All purposes.
Unless parental rights are terminated, parentage established under this chapter applies for all purposes, except as otherwise specifically provided by other law of this State.

Preservation of parent-child relationship.
Consistent with the establishment of parentage under this chapter, a court may determine that a child has more than 2 parents.
