Online Piracy in Numbers

Welcome to the We Fight Piracy Blog. To start us off, I would like to share one of my favorite blog posts with you: http://www.go-gulf.com/blog/online-piracy.

This blog post puts piracy statistics into an easy-to-understand graphic image. For those of you who don't understand how widespread internet piracy is, this image makes it crystal clear.

Most of my practice focuses on the fight against online piracy. Over the last few years, my firm has been making headlines with our mass John Doe lawsuits concerning peer-to-peer (P2P) file sharing. I would like to point out that the top section of the blog post, "Facts," makes note of the following relevant statistic: "98.8 percent of Data [sic] transferred using P2P networks is copyrighted." Unbelievable! 98.8 percent! That figure made it easy for Prenda Law Inc. to determine where we wanted to focus our primary efforts in our fight against online piracy. We knew from the beginning that we had to target the largest group of infringers.

Our efforts have proven successful, insofar as our clients witnessing a significant drop in the amount of their copyrighted content that is pirated online.
