The Supreme Court vacated the judgment and instructed the appellate court to reconsider in view of the Solicitor General's position that offenses should be counted separately only if they occurred at different times, and that "career criminal" status should reflect a history of "multiple criminal episodes" rather than multiple convictions arising from a single "episode."
