Notwithstanding any other provisions of law to the contrary, including Code Section 20-2-411, county and independent school systems may use school buses to provide transportation for the elderly, persons with disabilities, and 4-H activities if the cost of such transportation is reimbursed in full from federal, state, local, or funds other than school funds.

OPINIONS OF THE ATTORNEY GENERAL Use of school buses by community groups. - Local board of education may not allow community organizations or private recreational organizations to use a school bus for purposes other than transporting pupils to and from schools or activities which are an integral part of the educational program, even if the group pays all expenses associated with the use

of the bus, except that local boards may allow community organizations or private recreational organizations to use school buses to provide transportation for the elderly and the handicapped if the cost of such transportation is reimbursed in full from funds other than school funds. 1985 Op.
