Section 2. Elections and Primaries Generally, 21-2-1 through 21-2-604.

ARTICLE 4 SELECTION AND QUALIFICATION OF CANDIDATES AND PRESIDENTIAL ELECTORS

21-2-185. Filing deadline.

No petition to qualify a political body shall be submitted to the Secretary of State for verification after 12:00 Noon on the second Tuesday in July.

OPINIONS OF THE ATTORNEY GENERAL

Implied repeal.

- The 1989 amendment to O.C.G.A. § 21-2-187 has impliedly repealed the date set forth in O.C.G.A. § 21-2-185. 1990 Op. Att'y Gen. No. 90-10.

As the last expression of legislative intent, the date now set forth in O.C.G.A. § 21-2-187 is the relevant and operative provision, and a qualifying petition of a political body must be filed no later than the second Tuesday in July in order to qualify candidates of that political body to be listed on the general election ballot. 1990 Op.
