Iowa Ct. R. 13.21 (2026)

Rule 13.21 Transfer from county of confinement. If the respondent is in custody in another county prior to the hearing provided in Iowa Code section 125.82, respondent’s attorney may request that the respondent be delivered to the county in which the hearing will be held sufficiently prior thereto to facilitate preparation by respondent’s attorney. Such requests shall not be denied unless they are unreasonable and the denial would not harm respondent’s interests in representation by counsel. This rule does not authorize permanent transfer of the respondent to another facility without conformance to appropriate statutory procedures.
