Md. Rule 9-401. Applicability; Definitions

(a) Applicability. The Rules in this Chapter apply to termination of parental rights proceedings under Code, Family Law Article, Title 5, Subtitle 14.

(b) Definitions. The following definitions apply in the Rules in this Chapter:

(1) Statutory Definitions. The definitions in Code, Family Law Article, § 5-1401 apply to the Rules in this Chapter.

(2) Nominal Respondent. “Nominal Respondent” means the parent against whom the nonconsensual act is alleged to have been committed and who has been named as a respondent party pursuant to Rule 9-402 (d)(2).

(3) Respondent. “Respondent” does not include a nominal respondent.
