Leinweber, we held that a district court committed prejudicial error when it refused to give a heat-of-passion manslaughter instruction to the jury, despite the fact that the defendant maintained that he shot his wife by accident while dislodging jammed shells from his rifle. 303 Minn. 414, 415-17 , 228 N.W.2d 120, 122-23 (1975).
