If the product to be irradiated moves on a product conveyor system, the source rack and the mechanism which moves the rack must be protected by a barrier or guides to prevent products and product carriers from hitting or touching the rack or mechanism. A collision alarm system on the protective barrier must cause an alarm at the control console notifying the operator that a collision between the barrier and product conveyor has occurred.
