The statute also "protect[s] police officers against unnecessary danger and encourag[es] police safety.” Id. at 703. .The government explicitly states in footnote 8 to its brief that “we do not argue in this case that the presence of drugs and the possibility of their destruction created exigent circumstances.” A search warrant must be executed within ten days of the date of issuance, see Super.Ct.Crim.R. 41(e)(1), and the police executed this warrant on the ninth day. .
