Call Now: 904-383-7448This article shall not apply to department heads, temporary employees, other categories of employees of the state as defined by the State Personnel Board, or to students in the University System of Georgia in the employ of the state, nor shall it apply to any present employee. As used in this Code section, the term "temporary employee" means a person whose period of employment is of short duration or is part time as defined by the State Personnel Board.

- The exemption of this section applies only to the heads of state departments and not the various subdivisions, subdepartments, and branches of departments of state government; therefore, as it applies to the department, the Regents of the University System of Georgia, the exemption would only apply to the chancellor and not to presidents of the various units of the department, nor various administrative and academic departments and subdivisions thereof. 1963-65 Op.
