Extensions Of Time
(1) Extensions of time for filing applications for appeal or motions for reconsideration will be granted only in unusual circumstances and only if the request is filed before the filing deadline expires. The request must explain why the extension is needed and state the position of the opposing party. A copy of the order granting the extension must be included as an exhibit to the filing for which the extension was granted.
(2) Requests for extensions of time to file petitions for certiorari, responses to petitions for certiorari, and briefs in merits cases must be filed sufficiently in advance of their due date to permit timely filing if the request is denied. The request must explain why the extension is needed and state the position of the opposing party. A copy of the order granting
the extension must be included as an exhibit to the filing for which the extension was granted.
