The regents of the university and their successors in office shall constitute a body
corporate under the name and style of, the regents of the university of New Mexico, with
the right, as such, of suing and being sued, or contracting and being contracted with, of
making and using a common seal and altering the same at pleasure.

Extent of obligation to injured workmen. — This statute imposes upon board of
regents no legal obligation to compensate financially for injuries sustained by their
workmen in the course of their employment. Zamora v. Regents of Univ. of N.M., 1955-

Power to transfer university land. — A transfer of property owned by the university of
New Mexico should be made by the board of regents. 1914 Op. Att'y Gen. No. 14-1230.

The board of regents is a public corporation of this state as distinguished from a
