Assault or threat of violence against a school employee

As used in this section:
"Assault" means an offense under Section 76-5-102.
"Employee" includes a volunteer.
"Threat of violence" means an offense under Section 76-5-107.
Terms defined in Section 76-1-101.5 apply to this section.
An actor commits assault or threat of violence against a school employee if:
the actor commits assault or a threat of violence against an employee of a public or private school;
the actor has knowledge that the individual is an employee; and
the employee is acting within the scope of the employee's authority as an employee.
A violation of Subsection (2) is a class A misdemeanor.
