(a) Social security account information of the mother and father, if paternity is acknowledged by the father, of a child born within this state shall be entered in the medical and health statistics section of the certificate of live birth at the time of filing the certificate of birth as provided in Code Section 31-10-9.

(b) The state registrar shall make available the records of an individual’s name and social security number to the entity within the Department of Human Services authorized to enforce support orders for its use in the establishment of paternity or the enforcement of child support orders.

(c) Information obtained pursuant to this Code section by the entity within the Department of Human Services authorized to enforce support orders may be used in an action or proceeding before any court, administrative tribunal, or other body for the purpose of establishing a child support obligation, collecting child support, or locating individuals owing the obligation.

The 2017 amendment, effective July 1, 2017, substituted ‘‘entity within’’ for ‘‘Child Support Enforcement Agency of ’’ in subsections (b) and (c); in subsection (b), substituted ‘‘an individual’s’’ for ‘‘parent’’

near the beginning and inserted ‘‘authorized to enforce support orders’’ in the middle; and, in subsection (c), inserted ‘‘pursuant to this Code section’’ in the beginning and substituted ‘‘authorized to enforce support orders’’ for ‘‘pursuant to this Code section’’ in the middle.
