Sec. 5. Purpose. The purpose of this Act is to reduce the harm that methamphetamine manufacturing and manufacturers are inflicting on individuals, families, communities, first responders (including, but not limited to, emergency medical dispatchers), the economy, and the environment in Illinois, by making it more difficult for persons engaged in the unlawful manufacture of methamphetamine and related activities to obtain methamphetamine's essential ingredient, ephedrine or pseudoephedrine. It is the intent of the General Assembly that this Act operate in tandem with and be interpreted as consistent with federal laws and regulations relating to the subject matter of this Act to the greatest extent possible.
