(1) Upon a merger under the provisions of KRS 160.040 and 160.041 of an independent school district in a city of the first class with a county school district in counties containing a city of the first class, the members of the county board of education of the merged county school district, shall be elected pursuant to KRS 160.200 and 160.210. (2) Each member of the respective boards of education at the time of the merger of the districts, may continue to hold office until the expiration of his or her term of office, except as provided in KRS 160.200(4); but any vacancy occurring among such members for any reason shall not be filled.
